2019 Netball QLD School of the Year
BEING the best in Queensland is no new feat for Coomera Anglican College.
Last week, the Gold Coast sporting mecca was named the 2019 Netball Queensland School of the Year for the second time in three years. Netball Queensland has named Coomera Anglican College as the 2019 Netball Queensland School of the Year.
The College received the award for its commitment to offering a full netball pathway for both girls and boys, from NetSetGO through to school representative teams.
Coomera Anglican College netball coach, Anna Young, said it was an honour for the College to be recognised as the best in the state for its netball programme – which includes an elite Netball Academy.
“To be awarded this for the second time in three years is an amazing achievement for all involved in our programmes and a wonderful reward for the evolving innovations that are being implemented by netball staff and our netball volunteers,” said Ms Young.
“At Coomera Anglican College we are extremely proud that we can provide a range of netball opportunities for everyone within our College community, as well as the wider community. The goal is to offer experiences for all levels of players, boys and girls, and experiences for those interested in coaching, managing and umpiring.”
“It’s also great to see past students, current students, extended family members and friends of our students all involved in programmes with many willing to volunteer and give back to netball at the College.”
Coomera Anglican College was also recognised for supporting the education and development of coaches and umpires, offering financial support to more than 30 officials for accreditation and training purposes in 2019 alone. They also sponsor Bond University Bull Sharks as their Junior Development Partner.
The College’s Netball Academy is an elite based training environment created to encourage and nurture the best performance from all athletes, with students from Years 4-12 able to access additional coaching and pathways to advance their skills.
