Learning To Lead: Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders

28 February 2025

As educators, our goal is not just to impart knowledge but to cultivate a spirit of curiosity and ambition in our students,” remarks Mr Mark Hoppe, the driving force behind this initiative. “The Learning to Lead Series serves as a platform for our students to learn from real-world leaders, empowering them to envision their own potential and strive for greatness.”

Among the distinguished speakers who have been invited to our College is Mr Michael Crandon who, brought a wealth of experience from his political career as the State Member for Coomera. His insights, garnered over years of service since 2009, provided invaluable lessons in leadership. Through his engaging discussion, our students gained a deeper understanding of the intricacies of governance and the qualities necessary for effective leadership. The Most Reverend Jeremy Greaves KCSJ also captivated our cohort with his profound message of openness and self-discovery. Advocating for students to embrace the diversity of experiences that life offers, The Most Reverend Jeremy Greaves KCSJ shared his own journey of faith, highlighting the importance of servant leadership exemplified by Jesus. His personal anecdotes resonated deeply, encouraging students to explore their own gifts, talents, and interests as they navigate the path ahead.

As educators, our goal is not just to impart knowledge but to cultivate a spirit of curiosity and ambition in our students."

And, in a testament to perseverance and dedication, Ellie Beer, Australia’s youngest athlete selected for a Track and Field World Championships, graced our campus with her presence. Through tales of her arduous journey to Olympic selection and life as a professional athlete, Ellie inspired our students to push through challenges and remain steadfast in pursuit of their dreams. Her message echoed through the halls, reminding students of the importance of resilience and the boundless rewards of unwavering commitment.

As the “Learning to Lead” Guest Speaker Series continues to unfold, it embodies the ethos of empowerment and growth that defines Coomera Anglican College. Each speaker, with their unique journey and insights, contributes to a tapestry of inspiration, guiding our students towards a future filled with promise and possibility.

“Through the Learning to Lead Series we aim to inspire and motivate our Year 6 students by exposing them to the diverse paths to leadership. By hearing firsthand from accomplished individuals, we hope to ignite a passion for leadership, instilling the belief that each student has the potential to make a positive impact in their chosen field”.
