Shem Aitken, an Old CAC of Coomera Anglican College embodies the epitome of resilience and determination. Graduating in 2002, Shem’s legacy surpasses mere achievements; he symbolises the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. His journey from being a foundation student of Coomera Anglican College when it first opened its doors, to becoming a third-generation Insurance Broker with over 20 years of experience is remarkable in itself. However, what truly sets Shem apart is his unwavering commitment to living life to the fullest and empowering others to do the same.
In 2004, Shem’s life took an unexpected turn when a car accident left him without the use of both legs, abruptly altering the trajectory of his life and taking him on a journey of adaptation and resilience.
Instead of succumbing to despair, Shem embraced the challenge with unparalleled courage and determination, inspiring all who encounter him. Shem’s determination to overcome challenges and embrace life to the fullest is a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us of the power of the human spirit to triumph over adversity.
Despite the challenges posed by his disability, Shem has not only traversed the length and breadth of Queensland but has also gained invaluable insights into the challenges posed by natural disasters throughout his career in the insurance industry. His dedication to providing customised insurance solutions to clients reflects not only his expertise but also his genuine desire to ensure their peace of mind in uncertain times.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Shem’s passion for personal motivation garnered him recognition as a nominee in the Queensland Young Person of The Year competition. His journey is a reflection of the power of resilience and determination, inspiring others to overcome obstacles and pursue excellence.
Moreover, Shem’s participation in the All Abilities Disabled Ambrose Golf Team in the Masters Games, where he clinched the gold medal, underscores his indomitable spirit.
